The School Headteacher

The school headteacher should, in cooperation with the governing body:

  • Determine the school’s general policy and approach to provision for meeting AdditionalLearning Needs.
  • Establish the appropriate staffing and funding arrangements.
  • Maintain a general oversight of the school’s work.

The school headteacher has responsibility for the day-to-day management of all aspects of the school’swork, including the provision for Additional Learning Needs. The headteacher will need to keep the governing body fully informed. The headteacher will also need to work closely with the school’sdesignated Additional Learning Needs Co-ordinator (ALNCo) to ensure effective and efficient provision is made to meet additional learning needs.
